Fireworks, But No Santa

Charlie's reaction to the fireworks.

Continuing the holiday festivities, and to furthur immerse ourselves in holiday spirit, we joined in on our community's tree lighting event this past weekend. Fun for all, including cookies, hot cocoa, horse-drawn wagon rides, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and fireworks! Hidden Valley Lake opts to put on their fireworks show at this December event instead of the 4th of July due to extreme fire hazard (very hot, very dry that time of year here).

Last year we did not stay for the fireworks---too late for a very young Charlie. But we saw Santa and the Mrs. As you can see from the above picture, Kingsley's quite dramatic 2 1/2 year old tantrum was easily and quickly extinguished once Santa handed him a cheap stuffed snowman.

This year we were able to stay for a really grand fireworks show, but for some odd reason Santa and Mrs. Claus up and left at 7pm with 5 children still (quite obviously) waiting in line for a visit. Thank goodness Kingsley took it all in stride. I was expecting the worst (who me?) as we had been pumping this evening up and rehearsing what he was going to say to Santa. Phew. I think the fireworks helped and getting to run amok with his buddy (and our neighbor) Nathan.

Kingsley saying "cheese". Quite the ham these days.

Another decent family photo---not too bad.

A chilly, but fun and festive evening.

ahhh sounds like sooo much fun Kelly!! Too bad Santa needs to be put on the naughty list for leaving children waiting for him.... :(

The fireworks look wonderful this time of year, I'm sure the boys enjoyed that and the hot cocoa :)

Love the family picture! BEAUTIFUL :)

How rude of Santa to leave before seeing your children! Glad you got a good fireworks display to distract the kids. Happy Holidays!
