Do Me a Favor

If you have an infant---or even a younger toddler---do me a favor, please. Take a moment, a focused moment, in the next few days to hold your child. Do this outside, if possible. Then, just "be in the moment", revel in it. Hold your baby to your chest (chest to chest) so you can nuzzle his or her soft, fuzzy head (well, my baby's head is fuzzy). Breathe. Focus on how your baby feels against you, what he or she smells like, what your baby is doing or babbling, where his or her feet touch. Breathe. Focus on your breathing and your baby's breathing. Feel how big (or how small) your baby feels against you and think about how he or she will only feel that size for such a short time.

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Anna's been sick and therefore cuddly the last few days and I realized how much I miss just holding her like that- good reminder!

Well said, Kelly! The older they get, the less they have time to snuggle... Noah decided now that he is one, he needs to be on the move more. Makes for a sad mommy!
